The much anticipated Nokia 5800 XpressMusic was launched at the Night of Mayhem celebration at the Pavilion shopping mall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is ‘mass market’ device retailed at RM 1,499. The touchscreen phone has is powered by the S60 Touch Interface and has a myriad of connectivity from quad-band GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900), Wi-Fi to 3.6 HSDPA data connection.
Ultimately, the 5800 is a music-centric device which comes bundled with 1,000 DRM-free songs. The device comes with 8GB microSD card and 81MB internal memory. The microSD memory slot goes up to 16GB as well. 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks and support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack.
The 5800 also has a 3.2 megapixel camera powered with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens with a dual-LED flash. The device also comes with an accelerometer, so expect auto-rotation for horizontal functionality. The 5800 also has built-in GPS receiver and supports A-GPS. The phone’s Media Bar is a drop down menu that provides direct access to music, a direct link to the Web and to online sharing (Ovi). The device supports Flash content, individuals can surf web and enjoy Youtube as well.
